The Trenchard Museum Visited: Memories Re-visited

Room Jobs Remembered.
Ex 74th Entry Aircraft Apprentice Kit bumpers his bed space to demonstrate he hasn't lost his swing. Just look at the shine on those shoes!
How did we manage to get up in the mornings, wash shave and dress, rush off to the cookhouse for breakfast, do a room job, and be on parade outside the barrack block all within the hour?
[Note for civvies: The floor pads, made of felt, that Kit is standing on, were essential not only for use under the bumper but also in keeping the floor highly polished as we walked about the room - especially on inspection mornings.
the pads were obtained by tearing strips from ones blankets! but most personal items used for "bulling" ones kit had to be bought out of our meagre 7/6 a week pay. These items included boot polishes, Brasso and yellow dusters. With other items for personal use and sixpence for the Astra Cinema there wasn't much left to squander. Parcels from home were very welcome in those days.]
NOTE: [The photographs in this section were taken by Slim, with one or two of my own and some by willing lady volunteers. Sorry but I've forgotten which is which and whose is what. If you would like some of your own photographs of the Weekend added to this section or make a comment - something I've missed perhaps, please let me know.]
